Part Damage
Basically, the way guns work right now seems to destroy the whole plane in a couple hits, I think it would be more interesting if part damage was a thing. Basically, if a wing was hit its drag would increase for that wing only, making flight more difficult, if it hit any part with fuel it would leak (or explode if damage was high enough), if a part with animations (landing gears, rotators and air flaps) the animations would play slower, making landing difficult, and if an engine was hit, it would burn and produce less thrust. So basically, one shot won't completely decimate a plane, but make it harder to fly, so if you get hit you could still win. (this would also be on enemy fighters)

I think there should be smoke and fire effects for critically damaged parts of your aircraft.
